Christy Besett MA, LPC
I am a licensed professional counselor, and my counseling approach is both practical and supportive, designed to address your unique needs and create a personalized plan for your growth. I am trained in EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and I incorporate various modalities such as CBT and Solution-Focused, and Internal Family Systems all with a trauma-informed lens. At heart, I am an encourager, believing that change is always possible.
I offer a safe and compassionate space where you can heal, reflect, and navigate life’s challenges. Together, we’ll explore paths to peace and resilience. Many clients leave therapy feeling free from past triggers, empowered to share their stories from a place of strength and healing.
I work with clients aged 10 and up, offering both individual and couples therapy. I specialize in helping individuals break free from cycles of anxiety, depression, and stress caused by grief, trauma, or significant lid. With trauma as my primary lens, I focus on uncovering the negative beliefs and experiences that fuel these symptoms. I also integrate education into our sessions, empowering clients to become more mindful of their somatic experiences related to the nervous system. The body is not meant to carry unprocessed trauma, and I guide clients in learning how to release and heal from it.
I’ve called Texas home for over 22 years, bringing a rich background in education, having spent 14 years as a music and art educator in a private Christian school before transitioning to counseling. I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from The King’s University in Southlake, Texas, and completed my undergraduate studies at Texas Women’s University.
My husband and I have been married for over 28 years, and I cherish spending time with our adult children and grandchild. In my free time, I enjoy long-distance running, hiking, and attending live music events.
